Cavs Players Share Tips on How to Become “Fit as A Pro”

CLEVELAND, OH – February 23, 2009 – As part of the Cavaliers “Fit as A Pro” program, Cavs players Delonte West, Sasha Pavlovic and Lorenzen Wright shared with a group of 25 youngsters from the City of Cleveland Parks and Recreation Department one of the key reasons behind their success as professional athletes — maintaining a healthy diet.

This past Saturday afternoon at Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant in Beachwood, the players and students assisted as sous chefs to Maggiano’s Little Italy Executive Chef Brian Clark as he prepared and served a healthy entree of salad and pasta from Maggiano’s menu. For dessert, the players served up a question and answer session on developing healthy eating habits and the lifestyle decisions they made to achieve their goals.

The group of kids were also given tickets to the Cavs vs. Memphis Grizzlies game on Tuesday, February 24th.

The Cavaliers “Fit as A Pro” program, presented by Medical Mutual, is designed to encourage physical fitness and well-balanced nutrition among elementary school students in northeast Ohio. Participating classrooms track the amount of physical activity they get each day and use a nutritional poster with information such as the food pyramid and sample diets of the Cavaliers as a teaching tool.
