As most of you have heard last night, the banner did not get approved by the Commissioner of Buildings at around 4:30pm. There was nothing we can do at this point, but we did not give up. With some magic of real Cavs fans and a few hundred emails we managed to get ahold of the right person. That person was Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. WUJU, a member of realcavsfans.com contacted Dan as a last ditch effort to see if anything could be done.

Dan replies minutes later and expressed that he will see what he can do. Next thing you know it the Chief of Government Affairs allows us to put the banner up as a “temporary go-ahead”. The speculations are that we come down to City Hall first thing Monday morning to apply for an appeal to keep the banner up.

While it is a great day for all Cavs fans, there is still business to take care of to keep our message up on that wall.

I just want to personally thank everyone from RealCavsFans.com for helping us pay for everything to get this done. The banner, the install and even the parking spaces that we needed to install, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Karl Singleton Jr., from Hotcards.com and The Foundation4u, Mike Rini from Repros, Nick Hendrix from Aries Eye Photography & Boyersigns.com thank you all for your help and support. Especially Patrick Kocon (WUJU) that dude really pulled through. He was relentless and didn’t take no for an answer. He did so much to get this banner up, he even pulled money out of his own pocket to help pay for the parking spots. Such a great dude and he has my highest respect. Nick from Nick’s Sports Corner, thank you so much for letting us use your building. The place was great and everyone there was super friendly. We hope that this sign will generate plenty of business for you. We did a beautiful thing today people. We are expressing art, our fanhood & Cleveland culture altogether. Thank you again and GO CAVS!

BOSTON — LeBron James responded Sunday to USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo’s warnings about skipping the world championships, saying he has already proven his commitment to the team.

Colangelo said Wednesday any player who sat out this summer without a good reason was jeopardizing his chances of playing in the 2012 Olympics in London, telling The Associated Press there are “no free passes, regardless who it is.” Dwyane Wade also has hedged about taking part.

Asked about the comments Sunday, James said: “I think everyone in the USA knows what type of commitment these guys have made, including myself, since 2003,” James told reporters before the Cavaliers’ 117-113 loss in Boston.

“I’m not trying to bash Jerry or anything like that, because he’s a good guy and I respect him. I don’t respect that because of the commitment we’ve all given to the USA. Right off the bat, we didn’t second guess it at all. If we’re jeopardizing being in London, what can we do?”

CLEVELAND — LeBron James has a busy summer ahead. Maybe too busy to play basketball.

Cleveland‘s superstar said Wednesday night that he’s “probably not playing” for Team USA this summer in the world championships in Turkey. James, who was a captain on the U.S. team that won a gold medal at the Beijing Games in 2008, is eligible for free agency after the season and is scheduled to film a movie.

His crammed itinerary may make it impossible to play for his country for the fourth time. James also was a member of the 2004 Olympic team in Athens — and choosing not to take part this summer could jeopardize his chances of playing in London in 2012.

“I got a really, really, really, really, really busy summer,” James said about an hour before tip-off against the Milwaukee Bucks. “I would love if I had the opportunity and the time to play to represent my country and go out there and do that. But there’s a lot of things I need to take care of first.”

So will he play?

“It’s very, very shady right now,” he said. “I’m probably not playing. There are a lot of decisions I need to make this summer before I decide to get back out on the court.”

Ric Bucher of ESPN quoted a league source on Thursday when he said that LeBron James might be more interested in coming to the Knicks if they have Hawks’ shooting guard Joe Johnson.

“If it’s LeBron James they want,” Bucher said, “a league source says the Hawks’ shooting guard is a very good place to start.”
